Solar and Wind Energy Conversion

If you should be considering having a loft conversion done, then it could also be worth considering having solar panels or even a wind turbine fitted. Having these facilities installed will give you a renewable source of energy that is both good for the environment and best of all free.

Why is it so important to find a new energy source?

As you may have noticed, energy bills have begun to rise rapidly over the past few years and unfortunately the rise does not look set to stop. This is mainly due to the fact that the price of fossil fuels is spiralling out of control and there are only enough nuclear power stations helping to produce 20% of the power that the UK’s population demands.

It is reported that by the year 2010 the UK will have to resort to importing as much as 90% of its energy requirements, and so as the demand for power grows each year and the supplies begin to fall, prices look set to rise even further.

One of the biggest reasons for finding a new energy source is because of global warming. Fossil fuels produce a large amount of CO2 and its imperative that we find an energy source that is both clean and efficient.

Solar Energy

Solar power (also known as solar energy) is Solar Radiation emitted from our sun. Solar energy has been used in many traditional technologies for centuries, and has come into widespread use where other power supplies are absent, such as in remote locations and in space.

Wind Energy

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into more useful forms, usually electricity, using wind turbines. At the moment wind energy currently produces less than 1% of world-wide electricity use.

Can we afford not to use these energy sources in the near future?

There are many reasons why we should install clean renewable energy sources such as these, here are but a few;

  1. Fuel costs are rising rapidly as fossil fuels begin to deplete.
  2. CO2 emissions need to be reduced in order to stop global warming.
  3. Clean, renewable, alternative and free source of energy.
  4. Ability to produce up to 60% of your hot water needs.
  5. It is also a tax free energy source.
  6. Paid for with the money that you are going to give to the utility companies.
  7. Solar panels can add as much as 9% to the value of your property.
  8. There are full or part refunds available from the government based schemes
